Madona Shaker, MHC-LP
For more than twenty years, I have devoted my career to supporting individuals and families through healing, growth, and meaningful change. My passion for counseling began long before my formal training and has guided every professional step I have taken.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in 2009, followed by a Master’s in Philosophy and Psychological Studies in 2011, and a Master’s in Education from Cairo, Egypt. I later completed my PhD in Psychology at Delaware University in 2022. These academic foundations, combined with extensive hands-on experience, shaped a deeply informed and compassionate approach to clinical work.
Throughout my career, I have worked across diverse and high-impact settings, including family court, criminal court, the Family Justice Center, community mental health programs, and school systems. I am highly familiar with ACS processes, documentation, mandates, investigations, and court requirements, which allows me to support families navigating complex systems with clarity and sensitivity.
A significant part of my work involves reunification therapy, supporting families affected by separation, conflict, trauma, and legal involvement. I collaborate with attorneys, judges, caseworkers, ACS workers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safety, transparency, and steady therapeutic progress for each family member.
I am a certified Multi-systemic Therapist (MST)—an intensive, evidence-based model designed for families experiencing significant challenges with youth behavior, emotional dysregulation, school struggles, and safety concerns. MST helps strengthen family communication, rebuild structure, and empower caregivers with practical, effective tools.
In addition, I bring extensive training and experience in:
• EMDR therapy for trauma, PTSD, and emotional wounds
• Hypnotherapy for anxiety, stress, and behavior change
• Art therapy techniques, particularly with children and teens
• Group therapy for adolescents and adults
• Substance use and addiction counseling, including probation and court-mandated treatment
• DBT and CBT for emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues
I also have strong experience working in school settings, supporting students with:
• Behavioral challenges
• Special education needs
• ABA-based behavioral interventions
• IEP collaboration and progress monitoring
• Classroom behavior plans and crisis de-escalation
These experiences have given me a solid understanding of how learning needs, emotional regulation, family stressors, trauma, and environmental factors intersect in the daily lives of students.
I work with adults, children, adolescents, couples, and families. My specialties include anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, court-involved cases, reunification, school behavior issues, life transitions, and culturally sensitive counseling.
As a native Arabic and English speaker, I am honored to support multicultural and immigrant families with an approach that is culturally respectful, understanding, and holistic.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: every person has the capacity to heal and reclaim their life. My therapeutic style is warm, structured when needed, and always grounded in respect, empathy, and empowerment. I strive to create a safe space where clients can be heard, supported, and guided toward meaningful change at their own pace.
